Farmers market club
On Wednesdays after school we host the Farmer's Market Club. Looking at food through the lense of entrepreneurship, students participate in marketing, selling products, and experience the overall workings of running a business. Students grow food in the Seeds to Plate garden and learn to cook the harvests into tasty meals. The program also introduces or enforces ideas about nutrition and healthy eating habits, that our participants then share with the Mark Twain community through after school farmer's markets.
The program is led by Liberty Bradford, a Mark Twain Middle School Parent.

community work days
We host monthly garden workdays as an opportunity for our community to join us in getting our hands dirty and maintaining the garden. Activities include weeding, planting, painting our beautiful doors and planters, and anything else that needs to be done. Volunteers also get to try our delicious and fresh harvest and see what our students have done in the garden!
Gjelina good Food Program
In June, 2016, Seeds to Plate, the Gjelina Volunteer Program, Mark Twain Middle School and the Venice Boys and Girls Club teamed up with 20 students for a hands-on workshop to create their own restaurant. These student interns designed their menu, learned to cooked an appetizer, entree and dessert, divided themselves into front of house and back of house staff, and served their family a three course meal in Mark Twain's Secret Garden.
